Design, simulation and tools manufacturing

Our technical department, using the latest technologies, works closely with our clients to define and develop the most appropriate solutions to their needs.

To that end, we use the latest technologies in 3D design (Catia) and simulation (Novacast).

The required feeding and solidification solutions are carried out.

The execution plans for the models are defined for their manufacturing at CAM. They can be made out of resin, aluminum or bronze.

The technical sheet and the necessary requirements for manufacturing are also created.

We collaborate with different technological centers - Azterlan, Deusto University - in the investigation of new products, in the improvement of our current products, processes and in complementing the training in new tools and technologies.

Heat treatments

We manage any required heat treatment. We study, develop and propose solutions to eliminate them when possible, improving the production costs.

Surface treatments

Meeting the most demanding specifications from our clients, we offer a wide variety of protection and coating solutions for surface cleaning.

We have automated blasting cabins or manual round, angular or sand blasters.

We offer coatings according to Norm ISO12944-2 in corrosivity:

  • Atmospheric (C2, C3, C4, C5-I o C5M).
  • Parts under inmersion or underground (Im1, Im2, Im3).

By processes:

  • 1. Liquid paint:
  • Background: epoxy, alkyd, phenolic…
  • Finishing: polyurethanes, high build, vinyl-based.
  • 2- Powder paint or electrostatic
  • 3- Metallization by thermal spraying or electric arc: According to norms ISO 2063 and ISO 14919, being able to add zinc, aluminium or copper.
  • 4- Electrolytic galvanized with acid base and passivated. According to ISO 2081 without hexavalent crome (Cr VI). In Zn, Zn-Fe, Zn-Ni o Laminar galvanized, being able to apply lacquering or sealing to them.
  • 5- Zinc phosphating
  • 6- Hot galvanized. According to ISO 1461.
  • 7- Hard Crome: Electrolyte coating that guarantees a hardness of 65-70HRc, resistant to wearing, abrasion and corrosion, with low friction grade.
  • 8- Nitriding: Termochemical treatment to increase the surface hardness, at the same time it increases the resistance to corrosion and fatigue. Without deforming geometrically or dimensionally the part.
  • 9- Chemical Niquel: Chemical treatment with very low thickness that guarantees high surface hardness and a good protection against corrosion, applying uniform densities even in zones with difficult access.
  • 10- Vulcanizing: In rubber, polyurethane or silicone, wether by injection or compression.

We can apply the superficial treatment over the cast item, the mechanized part or once assembled in the subset, depending on the process. Possibility of making trials with salt spray.



Fundición
Core Bussiness from Fundiciones Garbi

A technically advanced process, highly automated, in constant improvement.It´s the fundamental process which supports Garbi´s operational structure.

We are specialists in the production of iron base parts, from 10-300kg in short and middle series, in the following materials:

  • EN-GJL–(200-250-300) LAMINAR GRAPHITE S/ EN 1561
  • EN-GJS–(250/22/LT-400/18/LT) SPHEROIDAL GRAPHITE IN LOW TEMPERATURE S/ EN 1563
  • EN-GJS–(400/15-400/18-500-600-700-800-900) SPHEROIDAL GRAPHITE ROOM TEMPERATURE S/ EN 1563
  • EN-GJS–(800-1000-1200-1400) AUSTEMPERED DUCTILE IRON (ADI) S/ ISO 17804
  • ISO 16112/JV/300/U COMPACT GRAPHITE OR VERMICULAR

Thus, we have:

  • 2 automatic molding lines in green sand: 760x615x (260+300) and 960x850x (350+350)
  • 2 Induction furnaces of 6500w middle frecuency with 10 Tn capacity
  • Automatic transport of cast iron
  • Automatic pouring ladle
  • Core making shooters from 5 to 150 liters
  • Automatic sand plant with cooling system and SMC features control
  • Hanging and Drum shot blasting machines
  • Fettling Robot



CNC machining

We have a machining department with internal and external means, being able to offer a wide range of machining possibilities. Starting from the specifications of our clients we create our own specifications, with a global vision of the process industrialization of the product.

Depending on the geometry of the part, its quality and technical requirements, and the quantity to be produced, we assign the part to the most suitable machine for its production, with the lowest estimated cost.

The range of available machines:

  • Lathes: With 2, 3 and 4 axes, wether horizontal or vertical. Multitask turning centers with multiple axes, with one or two heads.
  • Horizontal machining centers: With 500x500, 630x630 and 800x800 pallets.
  • Vertical machining centers: We have 3 axes vertical centers, with dividers and/or with automatic heads for working on several faces at a time. If necessary, we also have 5 axes machines with cradle tables to accesss to all faces without dropping the part.
  • Balancing: Vertical or horizontal balancing, by elimination of material (wether by drilling or milling). If necessary, also machines by material providing.
  • Broaching and carving of gears



Mounting and assembly

We have extensive experience in the assembly and mounting of different parts and components to complete complex subsets.

We connect the casting design, machining, heat treatments, coatings and assembly in the cases that demand it.
